Cycling UK (Formaly CTC)

This is the organisation Derby & Burton CTC are a Member Group of, all our regular riders have Cycling UK membership which includes a range of benefits such as third party insurance, legal helpline, magazine and of course access to all the local groups and events.  With around 65,000 members it is in a position of influence. Cycling UK has championed the cause of cycling for well over a century. Promoting all forms of cycling, protecting the interests of existing and would-be cyclists, and inspiring people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to discover the joys of cycling.

Derby Cycling group

The Derby Cycling Group was formed in 1979 by a group concerned at the increasingly marginal role of cycling in the city’s transportation system. Since then we have campaigned for the improvement of cycling conditions in Derby and for raising the public profile of cycling as an economical, ecological and healthy form of transport

We’re lucky in the Derby and Burton area to have a great choice of cycling clubs, covering a whole range of cycling interests and it’s quite common for riders to belong to and ride with more than one. This is a selection that CTC members are also involved with.

Sustrans makes smarter travel choices possible, desirable and inevitable. We’re a leading UK charity enabling people to travel by foot, bike or public transport for more of the journeys we make every day.  Responsibe for the NCN (National Cycle Network) those blue arrowed routes we are often cycling along.

Audax UK - The Long Distance Cyclists' Association

Audax United Kingdom is the internationally recognised long-distance cycling association in the UK. Usually referred to as Audax UK or AUK, it was established in 1976. AUK oversees the running of long-distance cycling events in the UK, and, using a system of timed checkpoints, validates and records every successful ride. These rides are popular among CTC members with many organised by CTC Groups.  Local ones run from Derby, Alfreton, Moira and Trowell.


Rough Stuff Fellowship

We’re certainly not your average off road cycling or mountain biking club. The RSF has a lot going on for riders of all ages, abilities and interests. Whether you are after a gentle ride on the cycle paths, an outing on the local tracks and trails, all day back-country epics, or even multi day off road touring, you are sure to find some like-minded people to ride with.  The Nearest group are in Nottinghamshire.


At the heart of every good ride is the route, whether that’s explored along the way or meticulously planned in advance.  Good mapping, either paper or digital, can make all the difference.  The four councils below all provide free maps specifically aimed at cyclists.

In addition to the mapping, some councils also provide planned routes, South Derbyshire has some of interest.
