On Tuesday 11th May, 21 Midlanders, plus one Tasmaniac, set off aboard the Yorkshire Bikeline for the annual spring trip to France. We had a night crossing from Portsmouth to St Malo and on the Wednesday morning, the majority opted to cycle the 80 or so kilometers from Jugon Les Lacs to the Hotel de L'Arrivee in Guingamp, our home for the week. During the following five days, we cycled from our base in Guingamp, in groups or individually, to explore the surrounding region. Trips to the coast to the North were very popular, though one or two dipped further South to Abbe Bon Repos. En route we sampled the local speciality - galettes - savoury pancakes to you and I. In the evening we enjoyed simple, but good, food at the hotel, with special meals of galettes and crepes one evening and mussels on another. On a different evening we were treated to a lovely meal at a rather up-market restaurant beside a water mill. As we had hoped the later than usual timing of the holiday brought kinder weather, though it was still pretty cold in the mornings and didn't really warm up until almost our last day. An earlyish start on the following Tuesday took us to a daytime return ferry and a late night arrival at the various drop off points around Derby.
